Bowmanville has a very good number of primary and secondary schools run by the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board and Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board. It also has an alternative secondary school and private schools. The Trent University and Durham College in the Durham Region offer higher education. Bowmanville’s main industries are manufacturing, energy and government services. Some major employers in this town are Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Goodyear and Bowmanville Foundry. Ontario Power Generation’s headquarters are scheduled to move to the Municipality of Clarington in the near future.

Transit & Connectivity In Bowmanville

Durham Region Transit provides public transit services in Bowmanville and Clarington. Oshawa GO station is the nearest GO Transit station from Bowmanville, and it connects to the east and west corridors of the GTA’s GO Transit network, along with the bus network. There are plans in place to extend GO Transit to Bowmanville with a station in the town. Bowmanville is just off HWY 401, giving residents convenient access to the busiest highway in the region and connecting to the 400 series highways. HWY 115 goes to Peterborough and is also easily accessible. Downtown Toronto is just an hour away from Bowmanville via HWY 401.
